Using a mic recording or text-to-speech
1. Select a character on the stage.
2. Open the Dialog tab in the toolbar.
3. Open the Add Dialog menu.
4. Select either Mic Recording or Text-to-Speech.
5. After recording a voice-over directly into the Studio, or generating a text-to-speech audio clip, the audio file will appear in the timeline.
Using an imported audio clip
1. Add an imported (uploaded) audio clip to the timeline.
2. Right-click on the imported audio clip in the timeline and go to Settings.
3. Open the dropdown menu at the top of the Audio Settings panel and select the character you wish to assign the voice to.
The voice-over in the timeline will be updated with an image of the character it is assigned to.
Note:
- In order to assign the same audio clip to a character across different scenes, the audio must be split and then re-assigned scene-by-scene. This can be avoided if the scenes have been built using the continue scene feature.
If the scenes were not built with the continue scene feature, follow the steps below:
1. Split the audio file where each new scene begins by right-clicking where the audio should be split and selecting Split from the contextual menu.
2. Ensure that the audio clip from the previous scene does not overflow into the next scene. Adjust the timing of the scenes so each scene has its own section of the audio file:
3. Reassign the audio in each scene by first selecting a scene, then right-clicking the audio file underneath the scene to open the Settings menu:
4. Assign the audio file to the character scene-by-scene:

Using a "talking" expression
Applying a talking expression to a character will give the impression that the character is speaking without having an audio track assigned to the character. This is helpful for creating background characters that look like they are speaking.
1. Select a character on the stage.
2. Open the Expressions tab in the toolbar.
3. Open the Expression section.
4. Vertically scroll the list of expressions and assign one of the "talk" expressions.
Note:
- When a "talking" expression is assigned to a character, lip sync is no longer enabled. To get a character to lip sync, the "talking" expression must first be replaced with a non-talking expression.
- Some actions have a corresponding talking expression (e.g. "presenting" actions) that will prevent lip syncing, unless replaced with a non-talking expression.
